Starting Afresh with God’s Promises

God’s promises for us are truly amazing, but many times, what seems to be the “reality” distracts us from God’s promises. Sometimes, we become too fixated on the outcome we want that we lose sight of the process. Imagine a situation where you prebook a cab for a specific time because you need to be punctual for a morning appointment. Your goal is to arrive on time. You go to bed confident that your cab will be waiting when you need it, but the unexpected happens: it doesn’t show up. You are disappointed and check the app, only to realize you misread the address, leading you to book a cab to the wrong location. Unfortunately, because you were too focused on the outcome, you lost sight of the process and ultimately lost both the process and the outcome.  Everyone is guilty of losing sight of the process at times, but the amazing thing is, you can always start over with God’s promises.

A good way to navigate any situation is to check God’s word to see what He is saying about your situation. Involve Him in the process and let Him guide you through life. Proverbs 3:5-6 – “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” It might seem like the process is too long and tiring, but wait for it because God can be trusted. Habakkuk 2:3 – “For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry.” Starting afresh with God’s word gives us the courage and strength we need to carry on in the process. When we fix our gaze on Jesus as He leads us through the process, the weight gets lighter, and we reach a better end.

God is calling you to let go of the past, start afresh with His promises, and embrace the new thing He is doing. Isaiah 43:18-19 – “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”
